The Most In-Demand Skills of 2019

As the job market shifts and develops, so do the most sought-after skills. Regardless of if you are two or twenty years into your career, it’s important to become familiar with these skills and see if/how they can be applied to what you do. While some of them are specific to certain industries, others are universally looked for. Thankfully, LinkedIn Learning offers courses in these and many other subjects. Below are the most in-demand hard, creative, and personal skills that employers are looking for in 2019 as well as online courses which will teach you more about them.

Hard Skills

Business Analytics
Even if Business Analyst is not your role, the knowledge they bring to the table to crucial for the success of every project. Knowing how to use the tools and techniques involved with business analytics will make you a key player in your team and company.

User Experience (UX) design certainly lends itself more towards technology-based careers, but the idea that a customer’s experience should be streamlined and intuitive is important across all industries.

App Development
Nowadays, customers expect every business they interact with to be accessible from their phones, which can result in local companies being pushed aside. If you work for a small or start-up business, being able to code iOS applications can take you to the hands of potential clients around the world.

Creative Skills

Public Relations
In a time when people are constantly sharing their opinions on the web, knowing how to be an effective spokesperson for your company is crucial. Even if you don’t work in the public relations department, it’s important to be someone who your employer can trust to be a representative.

Personal Skills

Adaptability
No supervisor wants to ask an employee to do something and feel pushback. Being adaptable shows your employer and your team that you are willing to take on tasks outside of your job description in order to help the group succeed.

Time Management
There’s nothing worse than feeling deadlines approaching and knowing there is no way you can get everything done. Planning ahead and focusing on one task at a time will demonstrate that you care about the work you are doing and that you could handle a greater workload in a potential promotion.

Cross-Culture Communication
You don’t need to be able to speak more than one language to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients across the world. In this course, you will gain the skills needed to thrive in an international company and be an approachable teammate in any office.
