Staying Motivated at Work During the Holiday Season

The holiday season is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean your work duties disappear. It can be tough balancing your personal to-dos with your professional projects, so taking an organized approach is key. Staying on track will all your tasks will ensure your holiday season is productive but way less stressful.

Separate Personal and Professional Tasks

Focus on work while you’re in the office and handle shopping, wrapping, and decorating during at night or on the weekend. It’s easy to get distracted looking at gifts online while at work or choosing to answer emails over sending out cards, but keeping a clear separation will keep you focused on each task.

Keep an Organized To-Do List

Instead of overwhelming yourself with a lengthy to-do list that looks likes you’ll never reach the end, keep separate notes so that you’re focused on only a handful of tasks. Additionally, keeping them separate will ensure you’re not thinking about personal to-dos at work and vise-versa.

Schedule and Prioritize

While in the office, schedule your time to make sure you’re working on all your remaining projects and not falling behind, especially on tasks that need to be prioritized. This will also help you leave each day feeling accomplished and ready to start on your personal to-dos.

Ensure Your Team is on the Same Page

With mismatched vacation schedules, it can be difficult to ensure that you and your coworkers are following the same timeline to get projects completed by the end of the year. Check-in regularly on how everyone is progressing and suggest tasks are reassigned to ensure they will be finished on time.

Remember to Take Time for Yourself

Just because your workday is feeling stressful, doesn’t mean your life needs to feel the same. Turn on your out-of-office and schedule days off to relax and enjoy time with your friends and family. You’ll be much more productive at work if you allow yourself to unwind while you are home.

Get Ready for New Projects in the New Year

Once your final tasks of the year are on track to be completed, start brainstorming your goals for the upcoming year. Not only will this impress your supervisor, but it will help you hit the ground running when you return to the office in the new year.
