Laurie Kotton Celebrates 16 Years at Abacus Group

Laurie Kotton, CPA, and Partner, Accounting & Finance Recruitment, is celebrating 16 years at Abacus Group this month.

Since October 2000, Laurie has been a tremendous asset to the business and is one of New York City’s most successful Accounting & Finance recruiting professionals—an accomplishment she attributes to the teamwork of her Abacus Group family.

On the surface, 16th anniversary, unlike a 10-, 15- or 20-year milestone, sounds trivial. But in a company that is just weeks shy of its 19th birthday, Laurie’s 16 years of consistent excellence are significant and worth honoring. While Abacus has retained about 30 percent of its current staff for at least a decade, Laurie’s tenure is one of the greatest, and her results have undoubtedly been the strongest.

Prior to joining Abacus Group, Laurie held senior-level Accounting & Finance positions in Insurance, Real Estate, and Mortgage Banking. Like her teammates, she began her career in Audit with a Big Four Public Accounting firm. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Bridgeport. Laurie’s expertise is a valuable resource for her clients, candidates, and colleagues.

Recruitment is more than a job for Laurie. The most rewarding part of her profession is the gratitude she receives from her candidates and clients. Laurie’s candidates describe her service as diligent, phenomenal, and seamless from beginning to end. They acclaim her for being supportive, transparent, and a great communicator. Laurie’s clients most appreciate that she promptly provides targeted candidate resumes in a professional, flexible, and personal manner.

Such tributes to Laurie’s work are not surprising given her philosophy to recruitment. She understands that personalized attention is invaluable in the industry today.

Laurie remarks, “With all the technological advances and social media that have impacted the world of recruiting, there is still nothing that beats a face-to-face meeting; it’s all about building relationships. I’ve met some of the most wonderful people through this business that I’m happy to call friends.”
