IRS Allowing Employers to Truncate SSN on W-2 forms


The Internal Revenue Service has issued proposed regulations in an effort to reduce identity theft. These proposals would allow employers to use truncated taxpayer identification numbers (TTIN) in place of the full nine-digit sequence on Forms W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, given to employees.
